Well, I guess DC could have been better. I don't know, it was fun, but it wasn't the experience i was hoping for. It wasn't like Camp MiTeNa, where I got to know people so much better and spend time with people I didn't normally get to hang out with much. It was just...Everyone in their own usual cliques and groups. Kind of felt the same as school in that sense.

The one thing that really truly stood out for me was Arlington National Cemetery. We are always subjected to lectures on Veteran's Day and Memorial Day about how so many people gave their lives for our freedom and safety and yes, we all appreciate that, but the reality of it is somewhat beyond us. But to go through this cemetery and see hill after hill covered with white headstones, to see the graves of 300,000 people who have not only died, but died for our safety, you can't help but be affected by that. Kate and I were in tears for a good 45 minutes during that trip. Although it was really really difficult to feel the magnitude of everything there, it was also a really good experience to have. I have a much bigger appreciation of the troops overseas and the veterans now, so I am glad I got to go.

We saw all the usual places, the Smithsonian,the White House, the National Archives, the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, the Potomac River, the National Zoo, the FDR Memorial, the Capitol... I mostly hate being a tourist. I'd much rather get to know the city itself than the museums and such. We drank a lot of coffee, Elise and I...The Starbucks was just too tempting.

Anyway, this entry is already a lot longer than it deserves to be. The basic idea is yes, I had a good time.

So my boyfriend is really sweet and I love him a lot and I think I will miss him and I'm probably the cheesiest person you've ever seen, right? hehe. <3

Tomorrow's the big day... District of Columbia, yo! I'm very excited. Peace out M-Town, we all know I won't miss you a bit for the next few days. It's definitely good to get out of here and away from my parents once in a while. Saturday and Sunday are sure to be a blast too, so I have tons to look forward to this week!

So, I was dizzy all day, the lights swung back and forth like the swing on Bud's porch, but I guess I'm better now?
I've been forgetting things the last few days. I laugh sometimes and then suddenly I forget what's so funny.
But I'm excited for DC, and for spending the weekend after with Tom, and for vacation.
I like packing suitcases, mostly because I like having something to look forward to.

I'm in love with him and he's in love with me and no matter how many times I repeat the thought in my head, I can't get over how great I feel. I can't get over how wonderful he is and how well we fit together.

I think things are better. I think maybe I'm not losing everyone. I think maybe I'm not going crazy. I think maybe it's okay to relax for a while and stop delving into every word and thought. I think I'm happy, and I think I like it.

so last night was wonderful, as evenings with him always are.
i finally got the chance to tell him what i've been wanting to tell him,

tonight could not have been better
i met his friends and they seemed to like me,
and though it sounds silly, it's important to me that his friends approve.
and we talked and talked and kissed and stared at each other in the best kind of silence.
he gave me this CD, that i absolutely love,
and i love that he knew i would love it
and he told me about how this record was like a book and that since i love to write,
that i would appreciate it,
and i see what he means.

i can't even talk, i'm just happier than i've been in so long.
